Kim Sajet, director of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., was recently featured on Fox-TV.
Sajet was featured on Fox-TV’s “Power Player of the Week” show on June 19. See video segment here: http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/fox-news-sunday-chris-wallace/videos#p/158303/v/4958952524001
Among the points she made was that she wants to fulfill the National Portrait Gallery’s mission:
The mission of the National Portrait Gallery is to tell the story of America by portraying the people who shape the nation’s history, development and culture.
During the segment she speaks to the impact of visual images, portraits of these men and women that bring visitors to this special national museum every week.
We are also impacted by the visual images found in a collection of online newspapers, such as GenealogyBank’s Historical Newspaper Archives. These newspapers can bring us an instant collection of images of our ancestors and the times in which they lived.
Here’s an example:
There are images across most of our historical newspapers – with sharp, clear etchings and drawings – as well as photographs.
These newspaper images just might be the only surviving portraits of your family members.
These portrait images of our ancestors, and photos of the towns where our relatives lived, underscore the high value of newspapers in visually documenting our family history.
You can search for photographs and images in GenealogyBank on this special search page:
