  1. Enjoyed Lawrence R Corbett’s article, especially the part about Lawrence’s uncle hinging from the live wire… These are great stories to record for our descendants to read, one of mine:
During my boy hood years I spent time with my great grandmother Bertha, after my great grandfather Amasa had past on. Bertha told me a true story about Amasa when one of his draft horses died and he had to replace it. He harnessed the new horse side by each to make the team then to his drop, double bottom, plow. Off they went, when he dropped the plow the new horse refused to plow, then laid down, that horse just would not pull the plow. At breakfast the next morning, Amasa said to Bertha, if I don’t come in from the field for dinner, bring my dinner out to me. Well, at noon Bertha rang the dinner bell and Amasa didn’t show up, so Bertha packed his dinner and headed for the field. When she got there, the new horse was laying down and Amasa was sitting on his head. Late that after noon Amasa showed up for supper. The next morning Amasa harnessed up the team and plowed all morning!
This took place in the late 1890s at their farm on Kuzmick Road, Hudson Township, Michigan, Charlevoix County, just out side Boyne Falls.
