People Rising to the Occasion, Making Homemade Masks

In researching her blog article that we posted this morning (see: Influenza Masks Circa 1918), Gena Philibert-Ortega noticed that people during the 1918 flu pandemic made their own masks. Knowing people were doing this during our current coronavirus pandemic – for themselves, their families and friends, and for health care personnel and first responders – Gena reached out to her friends to see what they were doing. Here are photos of some of their responses, proving once again that even in the most difficult times, people’s generosity and creativity shine through.
