Is there a neighborhood in America without a basketball hoop, pick-up games and talk of sports scores? Or a park without a football/soccer field or a baseball diamond? Americans have always played and loved their sports.

Our ancestors loved their sports, too – and this can be found in the pages of old newspapers, such as GenealogyBank’s online Historical Newspaper Archives. For example, kids played on Little League baseball teams and their accomplishments were printed in their local newspapers. These stories are preserved forever in GenealogyBank.

Genealogy Tip: Don’t overlook the newspaper articles that document the fun your relatives had growing up. Find and preserve their sports stories – get the whole picture of their lives.
