US Army Register, full-text, digital copies on GenealogyBank

GenealogyBank has over 250,000 historical documents and books.

One of the more popular titles is the US Army Register.

This annual register gives genealogical information about the personnel in the US Army. There are similar publications for the US Navy and US Air Force etc.

The first Army Register was issued in 1813. The format and specific information has varied over the years – but generally the entries include the person’s name, rank, birthdate/place and details of their military service.

  1. Great addition to the collection! It would be ideal to have a way to limit to specific collection types – for example, being able to search across just this collection of US Army Registers.

  2. Good idea. We’ll see what we can do. Meanwhile – simply put “Army Register” in quotes in the ‘Include keywords with search’ box.

That will limit your name searches to that source.

You may also limit your searches by a year or date range.

    Tom

  3. Are these registers for commisioned officers only? My father was career US Army from 1940-1962, but I ave not been able to find him. He was an NCO.
